OTTAWA — Peter Goldring, Chair of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group made up of over 140 parliamentarians and senators, hosted a luncheon for His Excellency Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Ihor Ostash, Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada.

The luncheon was attended by the executive of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group and topics of discussion included: energy needs, international adoption, Ukraine’s interest in becoming a member of the World Trade Organisation, Canada-Ukraine economic cooperation and democratic reform.

“It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to welcome Minister Yatsenyuk to Canada and to continue the development of the good will and bond between Ukraine and Canada,” Mr. Goldring said. “As someone who has travelled to Ukraine and participated in their electoral successes, I am pleased with the support the Canadian government has shown for this emerging democracy.”

Minister Yatsenyuk arrived in Ottawa on May 6 and has also met with the Hon. Gordon O’Connor, Minister of National Defence, the Hon. Josee Verner, Minister of International Cooperation, and the Hon. Peter Mackay, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
