OTTAWA – Peter Goldring, Member of Parliament for Edmonton East, said today former Alberta MLA Dave Broda, who died in an accident Sunday, was a great Albertan who will be missed.

“I had the privilege of knowing Dave not only as a community leader but as a friend,” Mr. Goldring says. “The public may best remember him for his two terms in the Alberta legislature or his three terms on town council in Redwater, but there was more to Dave Broda than just a dedicated public servant. It was my privilege to know him as a family man and a friend.

“He was active in the community outside political life also, having served as chairman of the hospital in Redwater and as president of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alberta Provincial Council. He was someone people knew they could depend upon.

“As past chairman and executive member of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Association I know fully of Dave’s great commitment and service to the Ukrainian-Canadian community.

“At this time of tragic loss our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Eileen, and his three daughters.”
