Peter Goldring Announces Funding for Deep Freeze Festival

December 23, 2009
Edmonton – Peter Goldring, Conservative Member of Parliament for Edmonton East, today announced support for the third annual “Deep Freeze – A Byzantine Winter Adventure,” to be held January 9 and 10, 2010.

“Our Government is proud to support Arts On The Ave and this project,” Mr. Golding said. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.
“Arts On The Ave has played a major role in the revitalization of 118 Avenue. I am looking forward to the snow and ice sculptures, as well as the music, theatre, story-telling and dance that will warm up a cold Edmonton January.”

Arts On The Ave will receive $24,900 to help present the third annual “Deep Freeze – A Byzantine Winter Adventure,” which will take place January 9 and 10, 2010.
The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year, including the fourth annual Kaleido Family Arts Festival which is taking place on 118 Avenue September 25 to 27.
